*Rare circular planter composed of a polychrome enamel bowl - Lot 188
*Rare circular planter composed of a polychrome enamel bowl decorated with flowers on a wine lees background, the neck underlined by a frieze of ruyi. It rests on a quadripod base composed of elephant heads flanked by lotus flowers and foliage. Square base in imitation of a trellis and indented feet decorated with flowers. The handles decorated with Buddhist lion's head. Late 19th century (some cloisonné enamel fillings, patina wears, missing a mobile handle). Height: 50 cm - Width: 48 cm Depth: 33 cm The polychrome enamel is European in style, but it is a testimony to Chinese inspiration and should be compared to the work of the Christofle company and the architect and theoretician Emile Reiber in the second half of the 19th century. The frame, also in the Chinese spirit, is similar to the models designed by Edouard Lièvre.
