From an illustrious Bugey family, Jacques de Cordon d'Evieu joined the Order of Malta in 1585. Order of Malta, where he served for twenty years, from 1586, in Malta, the Levant and also in the the Piedmontese army. He supported the Jesuit and Capuchin missions in the Genevan and Savoy. Missing title-frontispiece; small tears on ff. 25-26, 27-28 and 29-30. Slight tear at upper head gilding on edges faded, black marks on boards, small wormholes suprapaginal.
