Important collection of 602 copper engravings by Jean Lepautre, architect, draughtsman and
engraver to the King, depicting burials, tombs, mausoleums, fountains, vases, trophies of arms,
alcoves
Jean Le Pautre was one of the most important ornamentalists of his time, executing more than 1500
most often based on his own compositions. Some engravings bear the signature
or the name of Jean Lepautre, while the vast majority are later eighteenth-century prints.
18th century. The fourth volume, preceded by a handwritten title ("Oeuvres de Lepautre. Pièces
détachées") brings together later figures, some of them after Lepautre.
