[PARLEMENT DE DIJON] - - Lot 279
[PARLEMENT DE DIJON] - Recueil des déclarations, édits, lettres patentes et arrêts du Conseil d'Etat du Roi, enregistrés au Parlement de Dijon... Dijon. Jean Ressayre [then:] Causse. 1689-1781. 18 volumes in 16 strong in-4, marbled fawn calf marbled, ornate ribbed spines, [vol. I-XV]; late 18th-century half-basane, ribbed spines, [vol. XVI]. Tail of first volume faded, with cracked spines and traces of fire, disparate hinges of the last volume entirely split, but a good copy. An exceptional collection of this Burgundian legal compendium, spanning almost a century. It comprises two series, quite distinct in their composition: that of the years 1666-1735, 1738, often in continuous pagination; that of the years 1736-1780, which is in fact a dummy set of annual sub-records. The absence of the years 1754-1775 in the present collection can be explained by the almost uninterrupted slingshot of this Court of Justice between 1756 and 1771 against tax reforms, forcing the Intendant to go through the the States of Burgundy to register them; and the time of the Maupeou Reform (1771-1775), there was no registration, as the Parlements were replaced by other jurisdictions.
