First edition illustrated with a frontispiece portrait and 80 engraved plates, including 36 double or plates. A famous and superb work, certainly the finest published on bridges in the 18th century. A copy with full margins, complete with the Supplement published in 1789, comprising 14 plates instead of the instead of the 11 listed in the bibliographies. In volume 1, plate 39bis is missing. Small marginal spotting and soiling.
