DURAND-BRAGER. Jean-Baptiste-Henri. Attributed to. The Siege of Sebastopol. (Circa 1858). Oil on canvas. 50.5 x 80.5. Varnished wooden frame. Oil on canvas, some repainting repainted lower left corner. Beautiful oil on canvas depicting a marine scene during the siege of Sebastopol in the Crimean War. War (1853-1856). French and English flags can be seen facing the fortifications of Sevastopol. Sebastopol flying Russian naval flags. Jean-Baptiste Henri Durand-Brager was present at the siege of Sebastopol, then took part in an expedition to the Black Sea and the end of the conflict. A suite of 21 paintings on the siege of Sebastopol by Jean-Baptiste Henri Durand-Branger are in at the Château de Versailles, commissioned by Napoleon III in a decree dated March 22, 1858.
