NINETEENTH CENTURY FRENCH SCHOOL. Island of Saint Helena. 1829. Ink wash. 8.5 x 12.5 cm. Modern frame in wood and painted stucco, frame slightly missing. Ink wash depicting the coast of St. Helena Island. Several figures in uniform can be seen in uniform walking around the island. The one in the center appears to represent the Emperor Napoleon. On the top top of a cliff, a flag-raising ceremony takes place with other figures, while in the distance ships sail on a stormy sea. Signed and dated lower right "Acher (?) 1829".
