FRENCH SCHOOL. Portrait of a First Empire officer leaning on an antique milestone with the medallion of the love painter. (Early 19th century). Ink and wash. Diameter 8.5 cm. Contemporary silver-plated wood frame. Beautiful mixed technique of ink and wash, finely enhanced with white gouache. At the officer's side, his leopard-skin and lion's mouth headdress, as well as documents including and "receipts and expenses".
