Carved stoneware Shiva head Vietnam, Champa art, 11th century. The hair brought back in a bun and adorned with the crescent moon and a skull, the eyes, eyebrows, forehead wrinkles and the urna carved in hollow and probably originally inlaid with metal or stone accidents and visible lacks. H.: 44 cm Provenance: former collection of J.P. Bigay Delegate to the United Nations, acquired in the early 1970s. The intaglio carving of certain elements of the face is found on a Champa bronze inlaid with gold, silver and stones, part of the collections of the Da Nang Museum in Vietnam (inv. BTDN 535).
